About this tool

Rotates every page of a PDF by 90°, 180°, or 270° and gives you the corrected file back. Use it for a document that was scanned sideways, a page saved in the wrong orientation, or a phone-camera PDF that came out upside down. The file is processed in your browser with the open-source pdf-lib library and is never uploaded.

What "rotate" actually changes. A PDF page carries a /Rotate value — 0, 90, 180, or 270 — that every viewer applies when displaying or printing. This tool adds your chosen angle to that value. The page content, text, and any selectable or searchable text are untouched; only the display orientation changes. That's why the file size barely moves and the text stays copyable.

Rotation is cumulative and wraps at 360. A page already at 90° rotated another 90° becomes 180°. Rotating a 270° page by 90° brings it back to 0°. If a document has mixed orientations, one uniform rotation won't fix all of them.

Mixed-orientation documents. This tool applies the same angle to every page. If only some pages are sideways — common with scanned bundles — split the PDF first with Split PDF, rotate each part by what it needs, then recombine with Merge PDF.

Rotated vs. re-rendered. Because this only sets the rotation flag, a viewer that ignores /Rotate (rare, but some old or embedded viewers do) will still show the page the original way. If you need the pixels themselves rotated — for an OCR pipeline, or a system that flattens PDFs — you'd have to rasterise and rebuild the page, which loses the text layer. For normal viewing and printing, the flag is the right, lossless approach.

Privacy. The PDF is read into memory in your browser, modified there, and offered back as a download. Nothing is sent to a server, so it's safe for confidential documents.

Frequently asked questions

Can I rotate individual pages differently?

Not in this tool — it applies one rotation to every page. For a document where only some pages are sideways, split it, rotate the parts separately, and merge them back.

Does rotating change the PDF's content or text?

No. It only changes each page's rotation flag, which viewers respect when displaying or printing. Text stays selectable and searchable and the file size barely changes.

The rotation didn't stick in one viewer — why?

A few old or embedded viewers ignore the /Rotate flag. Standard viewers (Acrobat, Preview, Chrome, Edge) all honour it.

What if a page is already rotated?

Your chosen angle is added to the existing rotation and wraps at 360°. A 270° page rotated 90° returns to upright.

Are my files uploaded anywhere?

No. Everything happens on your device — safe for confidential documents.

Is there a file size limit?

No hard limit, but very large PDFs use more memory since the whole file is loaded into the browser. Most documents process in a second or two.
