Is the selection actually random?

Yes — it uses the browser's cryptographically secure random number generator, the same kind used for generating passwords, so every name has an equal, genuinely random chance of being picked.

What does "remove winner from list" do?

When on, each winner is taken out of the pool before the next pick, so you can keep clicking to draw multiple unique winners in a row without repeats. Turn it off to allow the same name to potentially be picked again.

Does it matter if there are duplicate names?

No — if the same name appears twice, each entry is treated as a separate ticket in the drawing, giving that name twice the chance of being picked.
