Estimates your dog's age in human-equivalent years, based on breed size. The old "multiply by 7" rule is a myth — dogs mature much faster in their first two years, and larger breeds age faster than small ones later in life, so this uses a size-adjusted chart instead.

- Why does size matter so much?
- Smaller breeds tend to live longer and age more slowly after their first couple of years, while larger and giant breeds mature faster and typically have shorter lifespans — a Great Dane and a Chihuahua at the same calendar age are not biologically the same "age."
- Why isn't the first year just 7 human years?
- Dogs reach physical and sexual maturity within their first year or two, which would be many "human years" of development packed into a much shorter time — most modern estimates put a 1-year-old dog at roughly 15 human years, not 7.
- Is this exact?
- No — it's a widely used approximation. Individual breed, genetics, and health all affect actual aging, and vets don't use this as a precise medical measure.
