Batch File Renamer

Rename many files at once with a prefix, suffix, find/replace, or numbering.

About this tool

Rename a batch of files at once using a prefix, suffix, find-and-replace text, and/or an auto-incrementing sequence number — see the new names update live before downloading anything. Each file's content is untouched; only the filename changes.

Because browsers can't rename a file in place on your disk, "Download all renamed" saves a fresh copy of each file under its new name into your downloads folder — you'll then move/replace the originals yourself. Everything runs locally; nothing is uploaded anywhere.

Frequently asked questions

Does this actually rename the files on my computer?
Not in place — browsers don't allow a web page to rename or overwrite existing files on your disk for security reasons. This downloads new copies under the new names instead; you then handle deleting the old ones yourself.
What happens to the file extension?
It's always preserved exactly as-is — prefix, suffix, find/replace, and numbering only affect the part of the filename before the extension.
Is my file content changed in any way?
No — the bytes of each file are downloaded completely unchanged, only the filename differs.
